How ASEV Travel Started
ASEV Travel was founded in 1995 with the initial goal of offering group tours mainly to the French market. From the beginning, the company focused on high-quality guided travel that would help travellers discover the cultural, historical, and natural richness of Southeast Asia in a more personalized and culturally sensitive way. At that time, the region was becoming increasingly popular, but there was still space for a company able to offer more tailored and meaningful travel services.
Growing Step by Step
In its early years, ASEV Travel progressively built its presence while developing the operational expertise required to organize journeys across a rapidly evolving region. This formative period helped shape the company’s character. Resilience, adaptability, and innovation became key elements of its foundation. While remaining a human-sized company, ASEV developed a solid structure and a clear direction that would guide its growth over the years including through the challenges of the COVID period.
What We Built Along the Way
From the start, ASEV Travel built its identity around service quality, respect for local cultures, and a commitment to building together with local communities. Its first destinations were Thailand and Laos, along with Mekong River cruises, which helped establish ASEV’s reputation for authentic, immersive travel experiences.
Company Milestones
Foundation of ASEV Travel
ASEV Travel was founded and began its journey by offering personalized travel experiences in Southeast Asia. The first office opened in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Expansion to Laos
The company opened a new destination in Luang Prabang, Laos, strengthening its presence in the Mekong region.
Establishment of Office in Yangon
ASEV Travel expanded into Myanmar with the opening of an office in Yangon.
Introduction of Cambodia
Cambodia became part of ASEV Travel’s portfolio, allowing the company to include Angkor and other heritage destinations within its Southeast Asia programs.
Expansion within Myanmar
ASEV Travel strengthened its presence in Myanmar with the opening of an office in Mandalay.
Headquarters Established in Ho Chi Minh City
ASEV Travel officially established its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, marking an important step in its regional development.
International Market Development
ASEV expanded its reach beyond traditional European markets entering China while strengthening its international partnerships.
Industry Challenges During the Pandemic
The COVID-19 crisis significantly impacted the travel industry. Despite operational disruptions and the closure of the Mandalay office due to the situation in Myanmar, ASEV Travel continued preparing for future development.
Regional Expansion and Sustainability Initiatives
ASEV Travel opened new representative offices in Bangkok, Yunnan, and Singapore, launched a new website, and reinforced its sustainability commitments with the appointment of a Sustainable Coordinator.
Continued Growth and Travelife Development
Cambodia achieved Travelife Partner status, while Vietnam progressed toward Travelife Certification, reinforcing ASEV’s commitment to responsible tourism.
New Markets and Service Expansion
ASEV Travel officially launched its MICE services, focusing first on Vietnam and Cambodia.
The company also opened a representative office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, expanding its regional network
Expansion into the Luxury Travel Segment
ASEV Travel will enter the luxury travel market, developing premium travel experiences and high-end services designed for clients seeking more exclusive and personalized journeys across Southeast Asia.
