Myanmar, the Golden Land
A Destination We Continue to Believe In
Myanmar has long been one of Southeast Asia’s most extraordinary destinations, renowned for its ancient temples, living Buddhist traditions, welcoming communities, and timeless cultural heritage. For many years, it was an important part of ASEV Travel’s portfolio, creating unforgettable journeys for travellers seeking authentic experiences beyond the region’s most established routes. Although our operations in Myanmar have been suspended since the events of February 2021, our connection to the destination has never disappeared. We remain in close contact with our local partners and continue to monitor developments carefully, with the hope of returning when conditions allow.ÂIs Myanmar Currently Open to International Travellers?
Myanmar currently permits international visitors to enter the country, and tourist visas are available for many nationalities. However, the security situation varies considerably between regions, and travel conditions may change with little notice. While certain major tourism destinations remain accessible, transportation networks, domestic flights, and operational conditions are not yet consistent enough for us to guarantee the level of reliability, safety, and service quality that ASEV expects for its travellers and partners. For this reason, ASEV Travel has chosen not to resume regular tourism operations in Myanmar at this time. Why We Have Chosen to Wait
At ASEV Travel, the safety of our travellers, employees, guides, and local communities always comes first. As a destination management company committed to responsible tourism, we believe that restarting operations should only happen when journeys can be delivered safely, responsibly, and with confidence for everyone involved. Rather than reopening prematurely, we continue to monitor official travel advisories, local conditions, transportation infrastructure, and the well-being of our partners across the country. We also recognise that many governments continue to maintain travel advisories for parts of Myanmar, which can affect travel insurance coverage and assistance services for international travellers. These practical considerations are an important part of our decision-making process.Supporting Our Local Partners
Myanmar’s tourism industry has faced significant challenges in recent years, affecting thousands of guides, drivers, hotels, artisans, restaurants, and local communities that once welcomed visitors from around the world. Although our operations remain paused, we have maintained close relationships with our trusted local partners. Members of our Myanmar team continue to support ASEV remotely, while our Country Manager remains in regular contact with local management and key partners to stay informed of developments on the ground. Our commitment to Myanmar extends beyond tourism—it’s about preserving long-standing partnerships, supporting the people behind the destination, and ensuring that, when the time is right, we will be ready to return together.Looking Ahead
Myanmar remains one of Southeast Asia’s most culturally rich and inspiring destinations. We believe that, when the time is right, international tourism can once again contribute positively to local communities, cultural preservation, and sustainable economic recovery. Until then, ASEV Travel will continue to monitor developments carefully and responsibly. When we are confident that we can once again deliver safe, high-quality journeys that meet our standards, we will be ready to welcome travellers back to The Golden Land.
